Dear Mr. Dillon:
My accomplishments and experience in eight years of corporate finance and ten years of public accounting should be of interest to you if you need a seasoned financial executive to help guide your organization.
I am a CPA with extensive experience in finance, management, accounting, and tax. I am Vice President and Controller of a subsidiary of Allegis Corporation, the Fortune 500 Company. I have also been controller of other companies and have broad expertise gained through experience with a wide range of clients and industries in public accounting.
At Allegis I participate in policy-making with senior executives and make and implement financial policy. I direct all accounting, consolidations, budgeting and profit planning for the subsidiary and its profit centers and work closely with the company's tax, treasury, and legal staffs on related matters. I participate in negotiations with outside contractors, financiers, and customers and provide liaison for internal and independent auditors. I report to the subsidiary president and its board of directors and am directly responsible for the quality and timeliness of work of a finance staff of approximately 25 people.
In public accounting, I was an audit supervisor with Mills & Company, the national CPA firm. I successfully managed several of the largest engagements of the Colorado Springs and Tucson offices, including construction, hospitals, auto dealers, direct mail sales, and manufacturing clients, among others. Coupled with experience in a large local CPA firm, my audit and tax work at Mills provided a broad base of expertise in finance and accounting.
My accomplishments include:
Successfully operated multi-million dollar distressed income property pending its sale, enforcing stringent cash expenditure restrictions which saved $25,000. Negotiated increased sale price and terms at closing table to save $5.6 million sale.
Confronted contractor operating in conflict of interest. Took control of records, negotiated release of files and recovered $12 million of the subsidiary's notes receivable.
Prepared, evaluated and negotiated financing proposals for construction and permanent loans, working capital and equipment loans, and bond issues.
Reorganized several headquarters and division finance staffs, including personnel decisions, which enhanced expertise, upgraded performance, and eliminated unnecessary work.
As an audit supervisor in public accounting, discovered a major error by client in use of LIFO which allowed 50% increase in client's income. I'm seeking a Vice President, Finance or Chief Financial Officer position which is responsible for treasury, accounting, budgeting, profit planning, and tax, in which there is significant opportunity to contribute to achieving company goals.
I'd appreciate the opportunity to discuss how my qualifications and accomplishments may meet the needs of your company. Please phone me at my office (303) 241-7868 to schedule a meeting.
Let's talk today,
Richard R. Estes
